Creede OHV Club
Minutes of August 5,
2010
The August meeting of the Creede OHV Club was held at the Boy
Scout Cabin on Miner's Creek Road and was called to order by Jerre Guthals,
President, at 6:25 PM on August 5, 2010. Jerre welcomed and thanked the
members and visitors for bringing the refreshments.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to dispense with the
reading of the minutes from the previous meeting as those minutes were e-mailed
to members.
In Linda Martin's absence, Jerre gave the Treasurer's Report,
reporting that there were deposits totaling $225, for membership dues, and
expenses of $165, for COHVCO memberships, leaving a remaining balance of
$13,713.52. Of the 56 family memberships, 40 have renewed and 16 have not
renewed. Forrest & Sally
Hoglund have joined as new members.
In the absence of Joel Clark, the Club's Trail Supervisor
there was no trail report.
Arrowhead Trail Construction has begun work on
Lost Trail so it will be closed to motorized traffic for five or six weeks.
Three rides for the month of August were discussed and
scheduled as follows:
August 10th - Bristol Head
August 21st - Phoenix Park
August 28th - Black Mountain Lake - stage at Browns Lake at 9:00
AM
Old Business
Arrowhead Trail Construction began work on Lost Trail this
past Monday starting at the Forest Road 520 trailhead. Fern Creek Trail
815 has been completed and paid for. A big thank you to the volunteers who
helped with building and installing the fencing and signs, clearing down timber
and other work on the trail.
George Gangler from the Trails Preservation Alliance
installed the 52" trailhead barrier at Fern Creek trail 815 which was provided
by a grant from Colorado State Parks. Three others were also delivered by George
for Lost Trail 821 and motorcycle trail 822. Thanks to George for doing this.
There is still no decision from the City of Creede on the
proposal to allow ATVs on the back street.
Speaking for Dennis Vincent, Jerre asked if any of the
members present wanted to attend the ATV Safety Class. Dennis will be
scheduling the class fairly soon.
New Business
Jerre commented that the Trail Maintenance Class held on July
17th was very interesting. The Forest Service will be acquiring
some McCleods (hand tools) which will be very helpful on the
trails.
Jerre suggested that members of the Club write thank you
letters to Tom Malecek for Fern Creek Trail. The address for Tom
is:
Thomas M Malecek
Divide District Ranger
13308 Hwy 160
Del Norte, CO 81132
After the current sample Club brochure was viewed and
discussed, a motion was made, seconded and passed to request that Dennis Vincent
print 500 copies of the brochure which he has grant funding for. It is
hoped that the brochure will generate more interest in the Club meetings and
rides.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
